The Beautiful Cage
"Above my head darted brilliantly colored tropical birds, and as I heard the sound of clinking bells on the bridle of a horse passing on the main road, the impressions of the two senses fused into one identity, and I attributed this mysterious song of brass to the birds, and fancied that they warbled with metal throats. Their song, evidently, celebrated my captivity." (Charles Baudelaire)
